Health funds and doctors in Herzliya, and where to go after hours

The four health funds' clinics in Herzliya, French- and English-speaking doctors, the Clalit urgent care centre, the nearest 24-hour ERs, and what Herzliya Medical Center (a private hospital) is and is not.

Herzliya has clinics of all four health funds, an evening urgent care centre run by Clalit, and a well-known private hospital. The nearest public hospitals with 24-hour emergency rooms are in Kfar Saba and Tel Aviv.

The health funds in town

The municipality's health page lists (Herzliya Municipality (opens in a new tab)):

  • Clalit (*2700): Nof Herzliya (22 HaPoel St), the women's health centre (22 Ben Gurion Blvd), the specialists centre (1 Rambam St), Herzliya South (9 Bilu St), Gottfried (4 Tchernichovsky St), HaNadiv (71 HaNadiv St) and Neve Amal. Tipat Halav (well-baby) stations are at HaNadiv, Neve Amal and Nof Herzliya (Clalit (opens in a new tab)).
  • Maccabi (*3555): 3 HaNadiv St / 7 HaSharon St (09-9594111) and Zerubavel, 17 Even Ezra St (09-8869300). See Maccabi HaNadiv.
  • Leumit (*507): the Meteor Center (09-9727500) for lab, paediatrics and family medicine; specialists are in Ra'anana and Ramat HaSharon. See the listing.
  • Meuhedet (*3833): the municipal page sends members to branches in neighbouring cities and lists no Herzliya branch, although directories still show one at 6 Sderot Lenchet. I have marked that row 'confirm details'. See the listing.

You can switch health funds twice a year, in January and July, according to a French-language broker's guide (a commercial source: assurancesisrael.com (opens in a new tab)).

Doctors who speak English or French

Maccabi's service guide lists 120 doctors in Herzliya; many list English, and a handful list French, for example paediatricians Dr. Chen Volinsky Weisman and Dr. Katia Kenler, and family doctors Dr. Rachel Bani and Dr. Ariel Steinberg (Maccabi (opens in a new tab)). Filter the directory by language to see the ones I added. The names are my transliterations of Maccabi's Hebrew listings.

A broker-run French directory has a Herzliya filter, but most entries carry no language detail; the three French-speaking private doctors I took from it are marked 'confirm details'.

After hours: urgent care

  • Clalit community ER, 1 Rambam St, 4th floor (corner Ben Gurion, by the central bus station), with lab and X-ray. The Clalit dataset lists it Sun-Thu 08:00-22:45 with evening and Saturday sessions; phone 09-9713535 (Clalit (opens in a new tab)). See the listing.
  • Clalit's evening service there charges a co-payment of 108 NIS on weekdays and 54 NIS on Fri/Sat/holidays, and does adhesive wound closure only, no sutures (Clalit (opens in a new tab)). A Clalit Kids urgent care in the same building does sutures, casts and newborn jaundice checks (Clalit (opens in a new tab)).
  • Terem lists no branch in Herzliya or the Sharon; its nearest centres are in Netanya and Petah Tikva (1-599-520-520) (Terem (opens in a new tab)).

I could not confirm any other after-hours centre in Herzliya. If you know one, tell me.
